Sweet Messages and Great Reminders from Santa Barbara (Spiritual Travel Journal #9)

A message from my Guides
I have been having a couple of challenging days. Having come down with a cold I have been feeling low and rather miserable. Who likes being ill on a holiday? When there is so much around to enjoy in California but all you can think of is tissues, sleep and a warm hug. And all the uncertainty about the next steps to take going forward on my journey added another pinch of salt to my experience.

To cheer myself up..
..I went for a stroll in downtown Santa Barbara. I enjoy walking into arty shops and galleries. Art being my ultimate medicine. I spotted a very quirky shop and came in to explore. Among many creative pieces of art, statues, paintings and eclectic notebooks there were two beautiful small books lying next to each other. "You Are So Loved" and "Everything Is Going To Be Ok!" were the exact titles of these two pretty books. How sweet! Exactly what I needed to hear and be reminded of at this moment. I smiled and felt gentle warmth rise up in my heart. Yes! Everything is going to be just fine! I touched the covers of the books thanking them for the messages and walked off browsing the artworks on the nearby shelves. Now, feeling much lighter and reassured that I'm still being looked after, the events of the past few days didnt seem as daunting anymore. I love how my guides communicate with me! Always at the right time and in the sweetest ways.

The book that kept 'jumping' at me
On the way out of the shop, the "Everything Is Going To Be Ok!" book jumped out at me again. This time from the window display - just to make sure I got the message  Next to it lay an arty window plate put together from cut down pieces of different car number plates - with letters and numbers forming: "Life Is A Beach". Lol! My guides have an awesome sense of humour.

One day later I had to move out from our awesome campsite by the majestic Cachuma Lake near Santa Barbara as my recovery from the cold required me to be indoors in warmth.

My only quick and cheap option at that time was a student hostel in Santa Barbara. Oh Gee! I thought at first. How am I going to survive this? But indeed, it turned out to be very refreshing to be surrounded by young people so carefree and open to life's adventures. I remembered how fearless and courageous I was in my teens too, when I enrolled into a British University and moved to UK with only £100 in my pocket. There were no limits back then!

And so there are no limits now either! This time I spent surrounded by 16-18 year olds has been a beautiful reminder about continuing to dream big, dare life and be fearless. We tend to get too careful about life as we grow wiser. Don't you think? Youngsters seem to be the masters of living in the moment and enjoying life till you drop ;)

While making my dinner in the communal kitchen and chatting to one of the students who studies some crazy branch of philosophy I cant even pronounce, a funky tune came on the music player near me. Another student came around and turned the speaker to face me.

Hmm I wondered to myself - what message am I about to hear now? It was a really cool upbeat tune with the lyrics I absolutely loved hearing! "Your Dream .... Is .... It Is Possible...." Ha! How amazing is that! You can imagine I had a big grin on my face throughout the song ;) Thank you Universe!

I enjoyed the time I was given with the youth - got some timely reminders about loving life to the full, especially valuable with me turning 30 (oh my!) in two weeks time. And also made me think again that I'd really like to work with teenagers in near future. They are so open, so creative and they are indeed the future of our planet! We better teach them well and learn from them big time too.

Gorgeous Santa Barbara Beach
This morning I went out to the nearby beach for a refreshing walk. And as I was crossing a road on my way there, a beautifully colourful and seemingly weightless butterfly followed me, flying right next to me step after step. I smiled at this graceful symbol of transformation and beauty and breathed in deeply: "I am looked after. I am loved. I am on the right track".

Big Love to You All!! Xxx
